RPG Lite Edition: Four Games To Check Out Now
Wrath of Ashardalon – Dungeons&Dragons
For those of you who don’t want to beat each other up and instead want to work as a group to slay evil monsters, I give you Wrath of Ashardalon! This game can be played solo but works best with all five characters in action. Each character has a number of special abilities to choose from and can level up after defeating enough monsters. Utilizing a scenario based system, meaning you choose which boss you want to slay and begin that specific adventure, WoA also uses a randomized dungeon tile deck which is really cool. Each time you reach the edge of a tile, a new one is flipped up. Sometimes there’s a monster and sometimes a trap goes off. Magical items are acquired along the way
There’s actually a few games like this one out there including a Forgotten Realms one where you get to play Drizzt Do’Urden and his group of companions and a Ravenloft version, full of ghouls and vampires. Each scenario plays out in about an hour, assuming you and your party live that long!
Dungeon – Dungeons&Dragons
A slightly different take on the classic dungeon crawler, Dungeon is all about getting in, grabbing the loot and getting out! As players venture deeper into the heart of the dungeon, the perils become more perilous, the monsters more monstrous and the treasure more…..treasurous? Each character has slightly different fighting abilities and some are able to cast spells too. When engaging in combat, dice are used to determine whether or not you wound your foe. The player who gets the most treasure out wins!
